8.2 Engagement

Measuring the quality of learning interactions.

The Engagement dashboard focuses on the quality of interactions, not just how many there are. This AI for schools provides insights into how deeply students and teachers are using the platform, not just how often.

You can filter results by time (e.g. last 30 days, all time) and by role (Admins, Staff, Students).

Learning Inquiry Depth

Shows how deep questions go, whether they are surface-level or detailed, exploratory questions.

  • Helps measure whether students are using CurricuLLM for deeper learning, not just quick answers.
  • If most inquiries are shallow → encourage teachers to model open-ended questioning and prompt students to "ask why" or "ask how" rather than just "what."

Weekly Activity Score

Tracks how active students are in a given week compared with the previous one.

  • Highlights whether usage is growing, stable, or dropping.
  • If activity drops sharply → check for timetable changes, remind teachers of classroom uses, or provide refresher sessions.

Session Quality Index

Summarises how useful and productive conversations are overall.

  • Combines measures like depth, responsiveness, and relevance.
  • If session quality is low → provide guidance on asking clear, specific prompts.

User Retention Rate

Shows how many users return regularly to use CurricuLLM over time.

  • Indicates whether students and staff find the tool valuable enough to keep using it.
  • If retention is low → survey teachers and students to find barriers.

Interaction Frequency

Measures how often students and staff engage with CurricuLLM.

  • Higher frequency suggests integration into daily learning.
  • If frequency is low → suggest starting with short daily or weekly uses (like warm-up questions, exit tickets, or revision prompts).

Response Quality

Rates how often the responses meet expectations.

  • High scores mean students and staff are receiving helpful, curriculum-aligned answers.
  • If response quality dips → remind users to include subject, year level, or outcome in their prompts.

Conversation Depth

Shows how long and sustained the average conversations are.

  • Longer conversations often mean richer learning, while short ones may just be fact checks.
  • If depth is low → encourage teachers to design activities that require multi-step reasoning.

Context Retention Analysis

Shows how well CurricuLLM supports knowledge-building across a session.

  • Breaks down "Deep Engagement" vs. "Standard Sessions."
  • If deep engagement sessions are rare → train staff to guide students into multi-step tasks.

Hourly Activity Heat Map

A grid showing which hours of the day are most active.

  • Darker squares = higher activity.
  • If activity is clustered in just a few hours → consider promoting flexible use across more lessons.

Summary: The Engagement dashboard goes beyond numbers. It shows how well students and staff are using CurricuLLM, and gives schools early signs of where more training, encouragement, or curriculum integration may be needed.
