12.3 Filtering and Finding the Right Prompts

How to use filters to narrow down prompts by level, subject, and source.

Once you're viewing prompts, filtering helps you narrow down to exactly what you need. CurricuLLM offers several filter options so you can quickly find relevant prompts.

Filtering by Level

  • Look for the Level filter (usually at the top or side of the prompt list).
  • Select your target year level:
    • Individual years (Year 1, Year 2, etc.)
    • Level ranges (lower primary, upper primary, junior secondary, senior secondary)
  • The list updates to show only prompts for that level.
  • This ensures prompts match your students' age and curriculum stage.

Filtering by Subject

  • Use the Subject filter to select your teaching area:
    • English
    • Mathematics
    • Science
    • Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS)
    • The Arts
    • Technologies
    • Health and Physical Education
    • Languages
  • You can select multiple subjects if you teach more than one.
  • The list shows prompts relevant to your selected subjects.

Viewing Your Own Prompts

  • Click the "My Prompts" filter or tab.
  • This shows only prompts you've created yourself.
  • Useful for:
    • Finding prompts you made earlier
    • Editing or updating your prompts
    • Seeing what you've shared with your school
  • Your personal prompts are always accessible here, even if they're not shared.

Finding School Staff Prompts

  • Use the "School Prompts" or "Staff Shared" filter.
  • This shows prompts created by other teachers at your school who chose to share them.
  • Why this matters:
    • Your colleagues know your school context
    • Prompts reflect your school's priorities and curriculum approach
    • You can build on what's working in your school
  • You'll see the teacher's name or initials on prompts they've shared.

Combining Filters

You can use multiple filters together for precise results:

  • Example 1: "Year 5" + "Mathematics" + "School Prompts" = Maths prompts for Year 5 created by your school's teachers
  • Example 2: "Secondary" + "English" + "My Prompts" = Your own English prompts for secondary students
  • Example 3: "Year 8" + "Science" = All Science prompts for Year 8, from any source

Clearing Filters

  • Look for a "Clear all" or reset button to remove all filters at once.
  • Or click individual filter tags to remove them one by one.
  • This returns you to the full prompt library.

Teacher Tips

  • Start broad, then narrow: Begin with subject, then add level filters.
  • Check "School Prompts" regularly to see what colleagues are sharing.
  • Use "My Prompts" to keep track of prompts you've created and might want to reuse or edit.
  • Combine filters when you have a specific task (e.g., Year 3 Maths assessment rubric).

Everyday Example

Filtering prompts is like sorting through a filing cabinet. Instead of looking through every folder, you pull out just the drawers you need (subject), then the specific folders (year level), and finally only the files relevant to you (your school or your own work). This makes finding the right resource quick and efficient.
